Slowly I'm going through my photos and putting some up on Flickr, I just don't want to overload it. Plus I'm trying to put captions on everything, so you can have a virtual slideshow. Check it out here. I'll add to it daily and try and add more vignettes here.
Above is a classic photo of West Lake in Hangzhou. West Lake is thought of a very romantic tourist destination for Chinese tourists. Historically poets and painters came here to find inspiration. The first full day I had I wandered one edge by myself and the next Elaine, Amy and I rode bikes around the other side.
Below is one of the sights of the lake, the Jade Belt Bridge in Rainbow Formation.
The pictures are fabulous! Why was the girl carrying two rats do you think? I have been thinking concentrically due to all the effort I have made in digging out a fire pit and was fascinated in those two round, stone containers with grass growing on the top. Do you know why they were built? They can't be too old; maybe a hundred yrs. or so. Instead of jersey barriers in front of our public buildings we should be thinking more like that, don't you think? Also interesting was the planning room at what I take is City Hall or some such entity. Fascinating! The future has arrived. I wish Buckminster Fuller were still alive so we could get his take on Shangai and the Peoples Republic in general. Talk to you later. M

I've been soo busy, I haven't had a chance to spend much time seeing your trip. It looked amazing! I had never had much of an interest in Asia beyond Israel. Your photos have changed my mind!
